About 32 Routes

Hi there and welcome to 32 Routes,

I am Marlene based in Germany and usually found balancing a fulfilling professional life with a deep-seated love for the open road. I believe that the best way to stay sharp and energized during the workday is to find a complete change of pace once the laptop closes. For me, that is where the bike comes in.

The Joy of Making

Last summer, my passion for cycling shifted from just riding to actually creating. I started experimenting with hand-made stickers to personalize my gear and designing custom ceramic cups with my own cycling illustrations.

There is a unique satisfaction in building something tangible. Whether it is a perfect illustration or a tricky mechanical fix, working with my hands provides a grounding contrast to the digital world. I am an advocate for "learning by doing" - even when it is hard.

Last year, I had to replace my first Schaltauge (derailleur hanger). Before that day, I did not even know it existed. Now, I embrace those mechanical challenges as part of the adventure.

The Project: A Physical Collection of Progress

This website - and specifically the 32 Routes Mallorca Quartet - is my way of turning digital memories into something you can actually hold.

I wanted to create a physical collection of the routes I have conquered and the ones I am still dreaming of. The quartet is not just a game; it is a stylish, tactile celebration of the island's beauty. It is for those who appreciate the details of a well-planned track and the aesthetic of a perfectly designed card.

What you will find here:

  • The Journey: Honest stories about my cycling progress, from German gravel to Mallorquin climbs.
  • The Workshop: Practical tips on bike care and those "Schaltauge moments" where we learn how things actually work.
  • Creative Drops: Updates on my hand-drawn illustrations, the Quartet cards, and new projects.

I am happy you are here. Enjoy your ride.
